5 Ways YOU Can Get Involved In Fighting Hunger

1. Donate
Every dollar you donate to the Power Packs Project helps provide food and recipes to families with children in need. Whether you’re making a donation of $10 or $2000, there is no amount too large or small—every dollar makes a difference and  is fully tax-deductible.

Don’t forget about Lancaster County’s largest day of online giving, The Extraordinary Give, happening on November 18. The 24-hour marathon of giving will benefit local organizations, including the Power Packs Project. For more information on how to make a donation through The Extraordinary Give, please visit extragive.org.

2. Volunteer
Volunteers have been the backbone of success to the Power Packs Project. There is nothing like delivering a nutritious food package to the family of a child in need of a better learning experience. Your time and effort has such a great impact on our families lives. By volunteering, you will see first-hand how large of an impact the Power Packs Project has on the Lancaster County community.

3. Take The Challenge
The SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) Challenge encourages an individual to live on a food budget of $4.00 per day and journal their experience. The challenge provides an experience that will help individuals understand the difficulties of maintaining a healthy, well-balanced diet while living on a SNAP/food stamp budget. We will invite you take the challenge and document it.

4. Become Aware
Did you know that 1 in 5 children in the U.S. go to bed hungry? Hunger goes unaddressed due to the fact that most people are unaware of the programs suited to assist families and children even exist. Power Packs aims to inform, engage and inspire thoughtful dialog and collaborative change in Lancaster County and beyond. Help us build awareness and promote action through our new campaign, Power Up Kids! Look for our interactive displays around Lancaster, and learn the facts about hunger.

5. Share
There is nothing stronger than the power of voice. Start a conversation and spread the word about hunger. Share and post your experiences helping eliminate hunger in Lancaster County and tag us on social media. Together, we can take action to fight hunger in our community!
